How can students order free at-home COVID-19 test kits from the U.S. government?

The federal government is providing four free COVID-19 test kits to every U.S. residential address that requests them at covidtests.gov and at 1-800-232-0233 for those without internet access. This program is designed to offer broad access to tests for individuals and families across various living arrangements.

Residential addresses known to have multiple unrelated families can order multiple tests. Students with shared housing addresses (residence halls, apartment buildings, etc.) should each enter their unique room or apartment number, and/or letter (A, B, C, D, etc.) along with their street address on the ordering form.

In some cases, addresses in multi-unit buildings where the units are not registered as separate addresses may not be recognized by the system. This might result in an issue placing an order. Individual units in these cases can still order four at-home tests. If you believe you are running into this multi-unit address issue, you can file a service request or call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to get the issue fixed.
